Open Public Common is a place to share projects and ideas about architecture, the city, the urban environment and their affects. It is presented by Aliz Mena, an architect from Caracas, Venezuela.
She received her Bachelor in Architecture in 2004 at Universidad Simón Bolívar. In Caracas she worked as Associate in a wide range of projects from architecture, interior design, master plans and urban design in the firm ma+ Micucci Arquitectos Asociados.
She is founding member of Fundación Espacio, a non profit organization, established in 2007, aimed to stimulate the critical understanding of Architecture in Venezuela and foster a platform of information, discussion and publication.
In 2010, she started a Master of Science degree in Architecture and Urban Design as a Fulbright Fellow at Pratt Institute in New York City. After graduate with distinction she worked for a year at Rafael Vinoly Architects PC, in the NYC headquarter, participating in a variety of projects from an university building in Argentina to an airport building in Saudi Arabia among others.
After living for two years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she returned to Caracas to continue developing her professional practice at TAAM architecture studio as well as the academic career at Universidad Simón Bolívar, where she is assistant professor.
